Worry
« on: February 05, 2009, 09:52:52 AM »
Hi,
I wondered if there were any "worriers" out there and if you had any tips?
My father said I was a born worrier and I think he was right! (He also tells me to look after myself as he worries about me so I guess I know where it comes from)
I have been reading "The Worry Trap" which has some useful advice - one thing is to change "I worry about..." to "I care about...". Saying I care about my finances, rather than I worry about them helps me to take an action rather than being frozen with anxiety.
I look forward to hearing any experiences.
Thanks.

Yep, That's me!

Actually, my father, who was a real worrier, used to say that I was really laid back! I worry about everything at about 100 miles an hour and it's hard to stop it sometimes. Apart from the generalised anxiety I'm very good at constantly calculating danger. I think that's a combination of my father's influence and the health and safety culture that permeates everything these days.

The only real coping methods I have for worrying are exercise or other distractions. In fact, if something is worrying me, I'm very likely not to deal with it and maybe play guitar or a computer game or check that email which might be really important.
Never a failure, always a lesson.
