It's to do with not symbolising things and actually drawing what you can see.

That's perfect, I understand now. That makes sense to me. Thank you. And thanks for the learning references, I'll follow those up.

I can see how it counts as good therapy for you. I like to write and love having a blank page come to life.

Sketching people in the street sounds interesting. I miss not being able to get out to coffee shops. Maybe soon I'll get there. Thanks for DVD recommendations. Im watching an Introduction to Drawing DVD that is suprisingly quite badly made.
Im drawing peoples faces out of the 'TV Quick' magazine at the moment. Mainly soap stars. I like their cartoonish theatrical expressions.
Dont know if this is of any use David but 'Open College of the Arts' do online painting courses.

WOW!!!!! I am crap at drawing...my fruit never used to 'sit' in the bowl at school, just sort of 'balance' on the edges......art teacher unimpressed....said i wasn't good...she was right! But i could dance - so I can do something 'arty farty'!! :)
