Social Anxiety support groups
« on: April 20, 2008, 09:29:06 PM »
Are there any social anxiety support groups in the Brighton area? Am moving to the city from Bristol (which has a great group) and hoping to find something similar.

Thanks!

Mia

Hi Mia,
We have our own and usually very small meet-ups where we have a chat and a coffee. Everyone is very laid back (surprisingly!) and it's nice to forget the mask for a while.
I did once see a social anxiety support group in Brighton but I've since lost the bookmark on my old computer. They didn't seem to publicise it much but I'll have a search for it.

There are lots of things running at Mind in Brighton but they are mostly drop-in classes and such like but I doubt that's what you're looking for.

You can find details of our meets in the meet-ups section of the forum. We are currently meeting every Wednesday afternoon in Brighton and monthly in the evening in Hove.
If you feel awkward about coming on your own then one of us, male or female, could meet you beforehand if that's helpful.

Best wishes,

Thanks Noisy! I will definatly come along to a meet when I move down there. Will be terrified, but you all seem lovely and everyone will prob be as anxious as everyone else anyway! Will definatly look up the Mind stuff too, is good to know what support etc is available and I always find classes useful.

Best wishes
