Brighton Social Anxiety Therapy Group
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:29:25 PM »
Hello,

i am trying to set up a weekly therapy group  for people with social anxiety. I have had social anxiety quite severely for many years and think being in a group with others would be a good way of helping to overcome it. I have a counsellor who is willing to facilitate it, and is very experienced at facilitating groups. I'm not sure of the cost yet, but it wouldnt be too expensive. Please could you let me know if you would be interested, we would need about 6 people for it to go ahead.

Thank you

Annie    ;D

Hello there,

I have been looking into support groups for social anxiety in Brighton, so would definitely be keen.

Will you post the details on here or will you want to contact individuals directly? I've not used this site before. How do you go about providing your details confidentially?

Thanks for organising this :)

Hello,

thanks for all your replies. Hopefully we have about 5- 6 people so we have enough to set up the group. Please could you email me at ahawkins77@hotmail.com and let me know which evening is best for you. The group would be held in Telscombe Cliffs by Saltdean so can you let me know if you are able to get there okay

Thank you

Annie

Hello all. This sounds like a fantastic idea - nice one Annie. I would also be very interested in doing this as a fellow anxiety sufferer. :D

Hello everyone,

thanks for all your replies. It looks like we have enough people to start the group which is great. There seems to be about 6 people who are interested including me so that is just enough to be able to start the group. I have spoken to the counsellor Matt Ingrams who will be facilitating the group for us. You can find out about him on his website which is http://www.mattingramscounselling.co.uk/  The group will be held on a wednesday evening from 7 - 9pm. It will cost 10 pounds per week, but as its such a small group we will need to pay for 6 weeks upfront, because if not enough people turn up each week Matt won't be able to run it. It will be held at his house in Telscombe Cliffs, there is parking on the road near his house. If anyone is stuck for transport then maybe people could help out with lift sharing, i know i dont mind picking someone up if its helps them to get to the group. Would you be able to email me at my email address ahawkins77@hotmail.com and let me know if you can commit to it, then we can arrange a start date for it.

Thanks Annie  :)
